Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To provide a titled end tab which has good bead formability and can reduce considerably the time for welding operation by using a refractory solid flux compsn. in which the respective contents and total content of SiO2, Al2O3 and MgO are specified and the apparent porosity is specified. CONSTITUTION:Materials 1, 1' to be welded are butted to each other and a groove 2 is formed by using a backing strip 9. An end tab 3 of this invention is pressed to the groove 2. The tab 3 is pressed and supported in the central direction of the groove by tightening the bolts 8 of a supporting fixture consisting of magnets 4, 4', nuts 7 provided to the center of leaf springs 5, bolts 8 and stoppers 6 and thereafter the groove is welded. The refractory solid flux compsn. constituting the end tab 3 in this case is specified to 45-75wt% SiO2, 15- 40wt% Al2O3 and 5-30wt% MgO, and the total content thereof is specified to >=90wt% and the apparent porosity to 5-40%. The flux having the above-described compsn. is in the lowest m.p. region of 1,350-1,500 deg.C, has the role of a refractory material and the function as a bead forming layer in combination and provides the end tab for welding having good bead formability.
