SKIN COSMETIC

PURPOSE:The titled cosmetic, containing cepharanthine as an active constituent, capable of giving stimulation and nutriment to the skin and peripheral blood vessels and preventing the aging of the skin, and effective also for preventing the heratinization of the skin. CONSTITUTION:A skin cosmetic containing cepharanthine as an active constituent. The titled cosmetic is prepared by incorporating the cepharanthine with a skin cosmetic constituent or base, and formulating the resultant mixture into toilet water, cream, emulsion, pack, etc. The content of the cepharanthine is 0.005-0.2%, preferably 0.02-0.1%. A fat or oil, e.g. olive oil, or hydrocarbon, e.g. vaseline, is used as the skin cosmetic constituent. Precipitates deposited by extracting Stephania cepharantha Hayata with an alcohol or water, etc., concentrating the resultant extract under reduced pressure, dissolving the concentrated extract in an acid, and alkalifying the resultant solution or the first fraction, etc. of alkaloids separated from the precipitates is used as the cepharanthine.
