MAGNETIC HEAD

PURPOSE:To form a magnetic head as if each optimum setting air gap length at recording and reproduction were provided by an air gap by utilizing the property that a multi-layered film where a magnetic substance and a nonmagnetic substance are laminated alternately shows magnetically a low saturated magnetic flux density. CONSTITUTION:The multi-layered film layer 3 consists of the magnetic substance layers 5 and the nonmagnetic substances 6 and its laminating state is decided depending on the design purpose; the state in Fig. (a) or (b). Further, the number of layers of each layer and the thickness are decided experimentally. The magnetic head having the multi-layered film layer 3 like this saturates the multi- layered part at recording and the effective air gap length exerted effectively onto a medium recording layer 4 is widen where the thickness of the multi- layered film layer is added. Further, the magnetic flux from the recording layer 4 is detected even by the multi-layered film layer at reproduction and the effective air pag length at reproduction receives an action at a narrow air gap length no including the multi-layered film layer.
