Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE:To reduce the size and weight of an igniter and improve the ratio of charging of a propellant, by opening plural flame ejection ports in the peripheral surface of the outer cylinder of the igniter, setting the volume of a passage hole around the peripheral surface depending on the capacity of flames, and providing a baffle which is downstream to the passage hole and crosses with the axis of the igniter. CONSTITUTION:When a firing unit 20 is set on fire, igniting pellets 22 are fired and instantaneously burned so that flames jet out into a space 25 through ejection ports 22. The capacity of the jetting-out flames or the amount of the igniting agent 22 is set enough to cause an initial ignition on the inside of a passage hole 17. The volume or cross-sectional area of the space 25 is set to restrict the outflow of the flames to an inner opening 4 to accumulate the pressure of the space to such a level as to efficiently perform the initial ignition. The amount of the igniting agent 22 and the diameter of the passage hole 17 are set in relation to each other. As a result, effectual firing is caused on the inside of the hole 17 to produce combustion gas starting with the inside of the hole, to heighten the pressure of the space 25. The combustion gas is ejected from the passage hole 17, the proceeds through a center hole 5, and is directed by a guide surface 2a so that the gas flows into a slot 6 for ignition. According to this constitution, the amount of the igniting agent is decreased to reduce the size and weight of an igniter and enhance the ratio of charging of a propellant. |
