ROLLING MILL

PURPOSE:To produce a rolled product having trued up sheet-width ends at high yield by providing flange-parts to upper and lower work rolls movable in their axial directions so as to prevent their mutual interference and disposing upper and lower backup rolls at the nonflanged parts of upper and lower work rolls. CONSTITUTION:Hydraulic cylinders 7, 8 are respectively provided to the axial ends of upper and lower work rolls 1, 3 through piston rods 9, 10 to make the rolls 1, 3 movable in their axcial directions. A flange part 2 is provided to one end in the axial direction of the roll 1, and a flange part 4 is provided to the opposite side in case of the roll 3. Upper and lower backup rolls 13, 14 are brought into contact with the lower stepped parts 11, 12 of rolls 1, 3 respectively. Rolling is performed by adjusting the distance between respective flange parts 2, 4 of work rolls 1, 3 so as to make the distance equal to the rolling width (l) of a rolling material 16; then the elongations of both width-end parts of material 16 in the width direction are regulated by respective flange-parts 2, 4, and edge drops are hardly produced.
