PRODUCTION OF POLYCARBONATE POLYOL

PURPOSE:To produce the titled polymer having light color and high quality, rapidly, by carrying out the ester-exchange reaction of a dialkyl, alkylene or diaryl carbonate with a hydroxyl compound in the presence of an epoxy-containing compound and a titanium compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer can be produced by reacting (A) a dialkyl, alkylene or diaryl carbonate such as dimethyl carbonate with (B) a hydroxyl compound such as 1,3-propanediol in the presence of (C) a compound containing 0.2-0.0002mol (based on 1,000g of the polymer) of one or more epoxy groups, e.g. ethylene oxide, epichlorohydrin, etc., and (D) 0.05-0.0001wt% (in terms of Ti, based on the polymer) titanium compound such as tetraethyl titanate, titanium trichloride, etc. EFFECT:The high purification of the raw material is unnecessary, and the damage of the reaction vessel is reduced.
