description PURPOSE:To obtain Escherichia coli capable of producing novel heat-resistant L- alanine dehydrogenase, by transforming Escherichia coli with a plasmid having the gene of a heat-resistant L-alanine dehydrogenase. CONSTITUTION:The gene of an L-alanine dehydrogenase originated from the chromosome DNA of Bacillus stearothermophilus is introduced into plasmid pBR322 to obtain plasmid pICR3 and pICR301. These plasmids are introduced into an Escherichia coli to obtain Escherichia coli C600-pICR (FERM-P No.7447) and Escherichia coli C600-pICR301 (FERM-P No.7448). A heat-resistant L-alanine dehydrogenase can be produced by culturing these bacterial strains.
