FIXING ROLLER

PURPOSE:To obtain a heat fixing roller which has a long life and excellent releasing property and, in addition, with which high quality pictures can be obtained, by constituting the roller in such a way that a layer prepared by impregnating a porous bodyh of tetrafluoroethylene resin with a heat-resistant rubber is formed as the outer layer of a metallic core and the tetrafluoroethylene resin impregnated with the rubber is exposed at the outermost surface of the roller. CONSTITUTION:A porous layer 11 of tetrafluoroethylene resin is formed to a thickness of 0.05-5mm. on the surface of a core 10 made of metals, such as aluminum, iron, stainless steel, etc., and the porous layer 11 is impregnated with rubber 12. The layer 11 is formed in such a way that a raw sheet of the porous tetrafluoroethylene resin having a thickness of 20-100mum and porosity of 50- 85% is wound around the metallic core 10 and baked at >=327 deg.C, and then, vacuum impregnating process is performed on the baked product to apply a low- viscocity heat-resistant rubber to the surface of the porous tetrafluoroethylene resin layer 11'. When a layer made only of the rubber remains at the outermost surface, the surface is polished so as to expose the layer of the tetrafluoroethylene resin.
