Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE:To provide an electrode for electrolysis having excellent durability and good chlorine overvoltage characteristic by incorporating respectively prescribed ratios of ruthenium oxide, platinum metal and/or oxide platinum and/or iridium oxide and tin oxide into the coating of the platinum metal oxide catalyst on a conductive base material. CONSTITUTION:An electrode for electrolysis is formed by incorporating 3- 45mol% RuO2, 0.1-30mol% platinum metal and/or platinum oxide and/or IrO2 and 50-96.9mol% SnO2 into the coating provided on a conductive base material such as Ti or the like. The incorporation of RuO2 into the coating in the stage of manufacturing such electrode for electrolysis is accomplished by coating a soln. prepd. by dissolving RuCl3.3H2O, etc. forming RuO2 when thermally decomposed into a suitable solvent and heating the coating. The incorporation of the platinum metal or platinum oxide into the coating is accomplished by coating a soln. prepd. by dissolving a salt forming the platinum metal or platinum oxide when thermally decomposed, for example, H2PtCl6.6H2O, etc. in a suitable solvent on said coating and heating the same. The electrode is useful when used as an anode in electrolysis of an alkali metallic salt such as soda electrolysis. |
