SURFACE DISCHARGE TYPE GAS DISCHARGE PANEL

PURPOSE:To improve luminous brightness by a method in which, when discharge is made to be generated near the points of intersection of the upper layer electrodes and the lower layer electrodes the upper layer electrodes are formed while providing the centers with the holes having the diameter with a specific ratio to the electrode outer diameter. CONSTITUTION:The X-electrodes 2 of the lower layer having the circular expanded parts 2a and the Y-electrodes 8 of the upper layer having the circular expanded parts 8a besides the holes 8b having the ratio of 0.5-0.75 to their diameter in the centers are arranged in the plural on the lower glass substrate 1 through an induction layer 3 such as the low-melting point glass or the like while being faced the upper glass substrate 7 for covering through the layer 5 made of a laminate of the low-melting point glass and magnesium oxide and a gas shield-in space 6 for forming a surface discharge type gas discharge panel. Accordingly, luminescence at the points of intersection of the electrodes 2 and 8 can be given high brightness and put in a state having no dark spot by generating electric fields also in the hole parts 8a for causing discharge.
