Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain good conditions of combustion without lowering the injection pressure of fuel even at the time of decelerating operation of an engine, by injecting fuel alternately from a plurality of fuel injection valves according to the operational conditions of the engine of the type in which a plurality of fuel injection valves are provided for each cylinder. CONSTITUTION:Two fuel injection valves 1 are provided in the manner of facing the combustion chamber of an engine. On the other hand, fuel injection pump 3 is so designed to draw fuel from a fuel supply pipe 4 at the time of downward movement of a plunger 6 and to discharge a required amount of fuel to a discharge pipe 7 and to return superfluous fuel to a return pipe 5 at the time of upward movement of the plunger 6. Further, a distributor 2 is provided between the fuel injection pump 3 and the fuel injection valves 1 so as to branch a fuel passage extended from the discharge pipe 7 into two passages. In the distributor 2, there are provided a stopper 8 which is capable of closing the abovementioned two fuel passages alternately. At the time of decelerating operation of the engine, the stopper 8 is reciprocated laterally in synchronism with rotation of the engine so as to open and close the above two fuel passages alternately. Thus, a required object of this invention can be achieved by injecting fuel alternately from the two fuel injection valves 1.
