METHOD FOR POSITIONING COIL OF PAY OFF REEL

PURPOSE:To insert and fix the drum of a pay-off reel at the center of a coil accurately by using a coil end face detector, and at the same time, moving the coil vertically in conformity to the center of the drum when inserting and fixing the drum of the pay-off reel to the coil of a hoop steel. CONSTITUTION:The coil 10 is brought down on a skid 12A on a coil car 14 by a crane. The coil car 14 is shifted to the left and stopped at the position of the pay-off reel 32 by a coil car position detector 20. Then, a touch plate 40A of the coil end face detector 40 of the pay-off reel is protruded, and the pay-off reel 32 is advanced toward the coil car 14. The touch plate 40A comes into contact with the coil 10, and the position is stored. Displacement for conforming the center of the drum 30 to the center of the coil is calculated, and the coil 10 is raised by the hydraulic machine 15 to conform the drum 10 to the center of the drum 30. Then, the drum 30 is advanced by a hydraulic machine 38, and after inserting it correctly into the center hole of the coil 10, the diameter of the drum is expanded and the coil is fixed.
