Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To reduce the cooling loss of a piston, by manufacturing the top plate of a piston by sintering a molded member with the mixture ratio of a pulverized silicon nitride and a pulverized zirconium oxide being varied successively. CONSTITUTION:The composition of layers 31-36 is varied successively from a silicon nitride layer 31 to a zirconia layer 36. A molded member thus obtained is sintered by way of a conventional silicon nitride sintering method. Subsequently, a top plate 37 of a piston made of a ceramics material is obtained by finishing the aforesaid sintered member by way of grinding or other method. By thus manufacturing a piston, it is enabled to reduce the cooling loss of the piston.
