METHOD FOR INHIBITING LEAKAGE OF WATER IN BUILDING

PURPOSE:To inhibit rapidly and effectively the leakage of water in buildings, by sprinkling or spraying a resin which has a high water absorptive power and is caused to gel by water absorption, on overflowing or staying water. CONSTITUTION:A highly water absorbing resin (e.g. a starch/acrylic acid graft resin or a polyethylene oxide resin) which has a water absorptive power capable of absorbing water in a quantity of at least 10 times its own weight and is caused to gel by water absorption, is sprinkled or sprayed on overflowing or staying water in buildings to thereby inhibit the leakage of water. According to the method, the rain leaking in the roof can be temporarily stopped in an attic to thereby prevent the room from being damaged by the rain, or a flooded area formed by the leakage of water caused by the breakage of pipes or the accidental looseness of joints can be minimized.
