Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:2-Mercaptobenzimidazole derivative is added to an aqueous solution of xanthane gum as a stabilizer to prevent the xanthane gum from decomposing at elevated temperatures. CONSTITUTION:To 100pts.wt. of xanthane gum (a substance produced by cultivation of a microorganism in Xanthomonas in a liquid nutrient culture medium), are added 0.05-20pts.wt. of at least one selected from 2-mercaptobenzimidazole and its derivatives of the formula (R1-R4 are H, methyl, ethyl; X is H, alkali metal, ammonium) in the form of a powder or its aqueous solution, so that its concentration becomes about 0.0001-10wt%, preferably about 0.0001-5wt% in the aqueous solution. Or the powdery stabilizer is mixed with the powdery xanthane gum by means of a mixer or blender.
