Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To form a thermally sprayed ceramic layer having excellent durability by providing preliminarily ceramic powder in which the mixing ratio of said powder and metal or alloy powder is changed on the surface of the ceramic powder particles and forming the thermally sprayed layer having successively increasing ratio of the ceramic powder on the surface of a base metal. CONSTITUTION:A thermally sprayed layer consisting of alloy particles 3 contg. 80wt% Ni-Cr, for example, ceramic particles 4 of ZrO2-8wt% Y2O3 and alloy particles 5 of the same material as the particles 3 is successively formed on the surface 2 to be subjected to thermal spraying of a base metal 1. The formation of such thermally sprayed layer is accomplished by a plasm spraying method. There is no bonding between the thermally sprayed ceramic particles 4 to each other in the thermal sprayed layer and the particles are respectively bonded via alloy layers 5. The bonding force among the thermally sprayed ceramic particles is therefore extremely higher than the bonding force among the thermal sprayed ceramic particles by the conventional technique and the thermally sprayed layer having high strength and excellent durability is obtd.
