Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To implement the low height, small size, light weight, and low cost of a detecting apparatus for a vehicle axle load, by blanking an elastic thin plate, bending the plate, forming a strain yielding body so as to have a U-shaped cross section, providing a strain yielding part on the side part, and providing a load applying part on the upper surface. CONSTITUTION:An elastic thin plate is blanked by a press machine and bent. A strain yielding body 11 having a U-shaped cross section is formed by an upper plate, which is to become a load applying part 16, a bottom plate, which is to become a seat part 17, and a side plate, which is to become a strain yielding part 13. A reinforcing rib 15 is provided between the load applying part 16 and the seat part 17, by bending the rib 15 inward to form 90 deg. with respect to the plate surface of the strain yielding part 13. Two strain gages 19 are bonded to the upper and back parts of the center of each strain yielding part 13. A plurality of the strain yielding bodies 11 are placed on a road. Flexible load mounting plates (not shown) are mounted thereon and wheels are mounted. Then compression strain is yielded at each strain yielding part 13 by the compressing load, which is applied on the load applying part 16. The axle load value is measured by the signals outputted from the strain gages 19.
