SUPPORT MECHANISM FOR MAGNETIC HEAD

PURPOSE:To simplify a structure and to reduce it in weight, and to facilitate fast accessing to a magnetic disk by constituting a head support part, a coil moving part for seeking operation, and a carriage, of a head support base plate in one body. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head 22 is supported through a gimbals 23 at the front end part of the lightweight head support base plate 21 made of insulating material such as ceramic. The movable conductor film coil 24 for seeking operation and a recording and reproducing circuit pattern 25 are formed on the surface of the support base plate 21 by, for example, thick film forming technique or thin film forming technique. Then, a recording and reproducing circuit element 26, etc., are connected to the circuit pattern 25. Further, guide rails 27 which allows only horizontal movement are added to both side edge parts, i.e. lengthwise head support side and its opposite side of the support base plate 21. Thus, fast access to the magnetic disk is facilitated.
