Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To aim at enhancing the scavenging efficiency of an ignition plug which greatly contributes the ignition of an engine, by providing an auxiliary intake-air port which is connected to one, near to the ignition plug, of a plurality of intake ports which are branched off from the bottom of an intake-air passage upstream of a shut-off valve. CONSTITUTION:Upon low load operation of an engine, a shutter valve 12 closes an intake-air passage 7. Intake-air is introduced from the upstream opening 13a of an auxiliary intake-air passage 13 upstream of the shutter valve 12, and enters into a combustion chamber 4 through the downstream opening 13b which is positioned as near to a first intake port 4 as possible. Intake-air flows down in the auxiliary intake-air passage 13 through the first intake port 4, is directed to an ignition plug 21, and creates a strong swirl without interfering with an exhaust valve 6.
