VALVE DEVICE FOR INTERNAL-COMBUSTION ENGINE

PURPOSE:To improve the valve closing performance in a valve device employing a rotary type valve body by forming an intake passage and exhaust passage in the valve body with their inlet and outlet ports displaced in the direction of the valve shaft. CONSTITUTION:A rotary valve body 1 which is rotated by the crankshaft rotation transmitted through a sprocket 3 is provided with intake and exhaust passages which are disposed parallelly along the direction of the shaft in a multiple number respectively. The intake passage 6 is formed in such a manner that a hole drilled from an inlet part 8 in the outer circumference of the valve body 1 toward the center perpendicular to the shaft axis of the valve body 1 is bent to the direction of the shaft axis and is twisted to be connected to an outlet 9 on the circumferential surface. The exhaust passage 7 is formed much like the intake passage 6, but its outlet 13 and inlet 14 are communicated to an exhaust manifold 16 and an exhaust port 15 at a specific exhaust timing. The valve body 1 is provided on its outer circumference with annular grooves 17, 18 in a space around the inlet port 8 of the intake passage 6 and outlet 13 of the exhaust passage 7.
