Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To provide sliding parts for a piston ring, etc. having improved wear resistance by forming a phosphorus-contg. nickel plating layer dispersed therein with silicon nitride particles on the sliding surface of iron and steel products and subjecting the same to a hardening heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:A nickel plating layer contg. 2-10wt% phosphorus is formed on at least the sliding surface of parts made of a ferrous heat resistant alloy, etc. Silicon nitride particles having 0.5-5mu average grain size are beforehand suspended in a plating bath to disperse 5-30% silicon nitride particles by volume into the plating layer to be formed. The phosphorus-contg. nickel plating layer is subjected to a heat treatment and is hardened to >=800mu Vickers hardness. The sliding parts exhibiting excellent wear resistance for a piston ring of an engine, etc. are thus formed.
