Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain a protective coating material for annealing capable of improving the magnetic characteristics of an anisotropic silicon steel plate by adding a small amount of fine metallic powder of Al, Si, Ti, Cr, Zr or the like to magnesium oxide. CONSTITUTION:A protective coating material for annealing for an anisotropic silicon steel plate is obtd. by adding 0.1-10wt% fine metallic powder of >=1 kind among Al, Si, Ti, Cr, Zr, Nb, Sn, W and Mo to magnesium oxide. A slurry of the coating material is applied to a silicon steel plate after decarburization annealing and dried to remote the water. The steel plate is annealed at high temp. in a gaseous mixture of H2 with N2 to cause secondary recrystallization, and impurities in the steel is removed in an H2 atmosphere to obtain an anisotropic silicon steel plate. The oxidation of the steel plate during the annealing at high temp. is inhibited by using the protective coating material for annealing, so an anisotropic silicon steel plate with stable magnetic characteristics can be manufactured.
