Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain a sintered electrode assembly for a flash discharge lamp with a long operation life span and the reduced dirt on the inner wall of a bulb by arranging a cesium metal in a blind hole formed on the end face of a sintered body, inserting a core in this blind hole, and caulking them. CONSTITUTION:A blind hole 2 is perforated on one end face of a rod-type sintered body consisting of tantalum, niobium, or alloys of these metals and the hole is filled with a cesium metal or a cesium compound 3 at its bottom. Then a sintered electrode assembly for a flash discharge lamp is formed by inserting a core 4 in the blind hole 2, pressing a part of sintered body section 1a surrounding the blind hole 2, and caulking and fixing both. This electrode assembly has such advantage that prolongs its operation life span and does not increase starting voltage.
