METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REMOVING METAL ACCUMULATED TO THROAT OF CONVERTER

PURPOSE:To easily and safely level of a metal removed surface to a flat surface, by shaving off the metal accumulated to the throat of a converter by the scraper apparatus on a truck below the converter while said truck is moved in a converter in inverted state. CONSTITUTION:A converter body 10 is inverted so as to direct the throat 12 thereof downwardly and stopped at a position where the end surface of the throat 12 becomes horizontal. Subsequently, the height of a lift frame 21 is adjusted so as to bring the blade tip provided to the leading end of a scraper to a height capable of shaving off a metal 13. In this state, a truck 19 having a metal removing apparatus 26 mounted thereon is pulled and moved to the direction shown by an arrow (b) by a diesel locomotive 18. By this movement, the metal 13 is shaven off at once by the scraper 23 and the fallen metal 13 is naturally discharged out of the truck 19 through covers 24, 25. When over-load is acted on the scraper 23, a chasis pin is broken to prevent the damage of the converter or the apparatus 26. In addition, the height of the frame 21 is successively made high according to necessity and the metal 13 is shaven off several times.
