Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain an object suitable for a VTR, etc. which is provided with an adequate degree of crosslinking and is improved in wear resistance by coating a coating liquid prepd. by dispersing ferromagnetic pulverized powder in a binder on a substrate to form a magnetic layer, adjusting the moisture content of the magnetic layer above a specific value and subjecting the same to a heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer is formed on a substrate which is a polyester film or the like by using a magnetic coating prepd. by adding polyurethane and polyisocyanate to a binder consisting essentially of a vinyl chloride copolymer or nitrocellulose. The moisture content of such magnetic laye is adjusted in a back roll state so as to have >=0.35wt% moisture content. The magnetic layer is heat-treated for >=20hr at about 40 deg.C in this state to provide an adequate degree of crosslinking of the binder in the magnetic layer whereby a magnetic recording medium for high density recording which has excellent wear resistance and is ?suitable particularly for a video tape, magnetic disc, etc. is obtd.
