HYPOTENSIVE AGENT

PURPOSE:A hypotensive agent containing an (omega-piperazinylalkoxy)alkylenedioxybenzene or an acid addition salt thereof as an active constituent, capable of rapidly developing the drug effect, and having prolonged action with low acute toxicity. CONSTITUTION:A hypotensive agent containing a compound of formula I (m is an integer 1-3; n is an integer 2-6; R is pyridyl, pyrazinyl, pyrimidinyl or pyridazinyl) or an acid addition salt thereof as an active constituent in an amount of 0.5-20wt% for an injection and 0.5-10wt% for a solution in the oral administration. The daily dose thereof is 0.1-100mg/kg body weight administered once or more times. The compound of formula I , e.g. 5-{2-[4-(2-pyridyl)-1-piperazinyl]ethoxy}-1,3-benzodioxole, is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II(X is halogen) with a compound of formula III preferably in an inert solvent, e.g. water or dioxane, at room temperature -150 deg.C.
