METHOD OF MOLDING RESIN ITEM

PURPOSE:To obtain easily a resin molded item of a desired shape without requiring any complicated means with the loading operation of the resin quite ready, by using a mold of a configuration memory alloy. CONSTITUTION:The mold is made of a configuration memory alloy, the mold is formed into an intended shape to which an item is to be molded, and the shape is memorized. For instance, a channel-shaped mold 1 of a configuration memory alloy having a groove 2 in the center is formed into an L-shape. When a resin is to be molded, the mold is plastically deformed at normal temporatures or low temperatures, and after the resin material 3 is loaded into the groove 2, the mold is heated to a prescribed temperature to regain the memorized configuration thereby to obtain the intended item. The heating is carried out at a temperature (e.g. 100-900 deg.C) at which the resin material to be molded is softened and the configuration memory alloy can regain the memorized configuration, and if the heating is carried out at 500 deg.C or above, it is carried out under an atmosphere free of oxygen so as to prevent oxidation. The mold can be employed repeatedly.
