CATV SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To improve the error rate during transmission and to reduce the reservation confirming time, by inserting information relating to the program reservation during a vertical blankin period. CONSTITUTION:When a CATV contractor inputs a program desired to be viewed from a keyboard 14 of a converter 9, the information is inputted to a computer 7 at the transmission side via a cable 8. The computer 7 reforms the information into the information confirming the program and outputs it. The information outputted from the computer 7 is multiplexed at the vertical blanking period of a composite video signal with a VIT insertor 2, scrambled 3, converted into an RF signal at a signal modulator 4 and outputted to the cable 8. The RF signal is demodulated with a tuner unit 10 at the contractor side into a composite video signal, which enters a signal extracting circuit 15, which extracts the program reservation confirming information from the composite signal and when a microprocessor 13 decides that this information is not in error, the reserved program is confirmed. Further, the program reservation confirming information is used for several lines at the transmission side and inserted.
