PREPARATION OF PERFLUOROALKYL IODIDE

PURPOSE:To prepare the titled substance, by reacting iodine with iodine pentafluoride and a fluoroolefin in the presence of a catalyst such as P, Sb, Mo, W, or their compounds using a specific amount of heptafluoroisopropyl iodide as a diluent. CONSTITUTION:The titled substance can be prepared by reacting iodine with iodine pentafluoride and a fluoroolefin (e.g. tetrafluoroethylene) in the presence of a catalyst selected from P, Sb, Mo, W and their compounds using 0.5- 5pts.wt., based on 1pt.wt. of iodine pentafluoride, of heptafluoroisopropyl iodide as a diluent. The amount of the catalyst is about 0.006-0.04mol per 1mol of iodine pentafluoride, and the reaction is carried out at 40-80 deg.C under atmospheric or relatively low pressure. EFFECT:It is not necessary to preheat the reaction system at a high temperature, and the reaction heat can be removed effectively, accordingly, the rate of reaction can be increased.
