SAMPLING OF COKE SPECIMEN

PURPOSE:To substantially contribute to coke quality control and coke oven operation control, by recovering a lump of coke while retaining its condition existing in the carbonizing chamber, to the guide grate of the coke guide truck at the discharge side for the coke when carrying out a coke extrusion. CONSTITUTION:First, the guide grate 6 of the coke guide truck 5 is fitted to the carbonizing chamber 2, a coke 3 being subsequently extruded by the extruder and the motion of the extruding ram 4 being stopped just after it is inserted into the grate 6; at this point, the red-hot coke 3 is made to retain, within the grate 6, the condition existing in the carbonizing chamber 2, thus accomplishing the recovery. For extinguishing and sampling the lumped coke thus recovered with its shape remaining intact, the grate 6 is drawn to disconnect it from the chamber 2, when the crumbling-proof device 8 set at the opening of the grate 6 is made to operate to close the opening, making the coke guide truck 5 to travel and bringing the coke cooling equipment 9 into operation to effect cooling of the coke 3.
