Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To decrease the concn. of OH formed in a cathode chamber by dilution and outflow of soft water and to supress formation of a side reaction in an anode chamber by supplying salt water to the anode chamber on one side of a diaphragm and soft water to the cathode chamber on the other side respectively at a specific rate. CONSTITUTION:A diaphragm 4 is interposed between a cathode 2 forming the peripheral wall in a structural body 1 and an anode 3 disposed at the center to segment and form said body to an anode chamber 5 and a cathode chamber 6. Salt water is supplied to the chamber 5 and soft water made by a water softener 10 consisting of an ion exchange resin is supplied 13 into the chamber 6 at =75% is maintained.
