Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve the slidability of a device to a recording medium by forming the face, which faces the recording medium, of the device with materials which has enough heat conductivity to carbonate a binder of the recording medium when this face is slided on the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:If ceramics having a low heat conductivity such as ZrO2 are used as a base material, the temperature rises considerably because of less radiation, and the binder is carbonated, and the carbide improves the slidability, and therefore, a long life is expected. When the face, which faces the recording medium, of a magnetic head is formed with various kinds of material and is allowed to collide artificially with a magnetic disc to measure sliding characteristics of individual materials, the magnetic head is floated on the rotating magnetic disc and a specific oscillation is given to the magnetic head for the purpose of accelerating the collision phenomenon between the magnetic head and the magnetic disc. As the result of measurement where materials indicated in a table 1 are used as slider materials of the nagnetic head, the life of sliding of various kinds of materials is longer according as the heat conductivity is lower, and materials having >=0.03cal/cm.sec. deg.C heat conductivity are superior in sliding characteristic.
