Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To remove easily impurities such as Si and Al from a molten Fe-Mn alloy by a simple method by mixing the alloy with an oxidizing flux having high basicity and a prescribed composition consisting of an oxidizer and a fusing agent. CONSTITUTION:An oxidizing flux having high basicity such as Na2CO3-NaCl or K2CO3-KCl is prepd. using one or more kinds of compounds selected among alkali metallic carbonates, Fe oxide and Mn oxide as an oxidizer and one or more kinds of compounds selected among alkali and alkaline earth metallic oxides and halides as a fusing agent. The flux is added to a molten Fe-Mn alloy, and they are agitated while maintaining a prescribed temp. to oxidize and remove elements such as Si and Al in the alloy. By this method the Fe-Mn alloy can be refined at a low cost.
