Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To accelerate the vaporization speed of metal mercury and to reduce equipment such as a vaporization tank, by adding a reducing agent to mercury- containing waste water to form metal mercury while vaporizing the same in the presence of an aluminum salt. CONSTITUTION:A reducing agent such as sulfite, dithionite or a boronhydride compound is added to a mercury-containing waste water such as waste water from a mercury process salt electrolytic factory or waste water from a mercury mine to form metal mercury. Subsequently, vaporization treatment of the fromed metal mercury is performed in the presence of an aluminum salt such as aluminum sulfate, aluminum chloride or polyaluminum chloride. The addition amount of aluminum may be about 40-400mg/l as Al and vaporization treatment is performed while air or nitrogen gas is passed. Metal mercury is vaporized by gas passing and reductive reaction of ionic mercury and a mercury compound is also promoted by gas passing effect.
