SIDE TRIMMER

PURPOSE:To enable a mechanism, for adjusting a clearance between upper and lower tools, to be simplified, by using a round edge for either one of the upper or lower tool while a straight edge for the other oppositely arranged tool, in the case of a side trimmer for after processing band steel or the like. CONSTITUTION:Lifting an upper tool 6, being a round edge, by a worm jack 23 in accordance with the thickness of a material 27 to be cut off and stopping the tool 6 to be held in a suitable position, the material 27 to be cut off is held between the upper tool and a lower tool 7, being a straight edge, and cut off to a fixed width by rotating the upper tool 6. This cut off width is changed by moving the trimmer main unit in an axial direction of the upper tool 6, while a clearance between the both tools 6, 7 is adjusted by moving the lower tool 7 for the upper tool 6. Then the clearance, when the upper and the lower tools are worn, is adjusted by lowering the round edge 6 or moving the straight edge 7 through a height adjusting shim 26 in a plate thickness direction of the material 27 to be cut off, and also the clearance in a plate width direction of the round edge 6 is adjusted by moving the straight edge 7. In such way, an adjusting mechanism is simplified, further its adjustment can be easily performed.
