In this apparatus, the ignition circuit 90 of a start circuit 44 is energized by the presence of both outputs of a releasing circuit 53 for giving the releasing signal to a motor 22 and a lock-release detecting circuit 43 for generating the output in the released condition so that an engine can be run after the steering lock is released to start safely an automobile.
