Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve the propulsive efficiency of a ship hull through production of the flow in the reverse direction to the moving direction of a propeller blade, by a method wherein the shapes of both sides of a stern are formed asymmetrically and a projection below the stern is also positioned asymmetrically. CONSTITUTION:A single screw propeller 1, turning clockwise, is installed on the central line C of a ship hull at a stern part. The shapes of both sides of a ship hull block 3 directly adjacent to the propeller 1 of the stern part are formed asymmetrically, and a projection 5 below the stern part is inclined toward the starboard side. This causes production of the down flow of water on the port side of the propeller turning clockwise and production of the up flow of water on the starboard side, and production of the flow, in a direction extending from the starboard to the port, of water below the propeller. Namely, production of the flow, in the opposite direction to the moving direction of the propeller, of water causes improvement of the propulsive efficiency of a ship hull.
