MANUFACTURE OF CARBONACEOUS ADSORBENT

PURPOSE:To secure the adsorbability to a same degree as the case of using non- caking coal as a starting material and to increase remarkably the strength by adding a binder after pulverizing and mixing highly caking coal and non-caking coal, kneading, molding, and carbonizing. CONSTITUTION:Highly caking coal and non-caking coal are pulverized, mixed, and kneaded by adding a binder (e.g. coal tar pitch) to mold and carbonize. By mixing the highly caking coal and the non-caking coal, a defect in the case of manufacturing an adsorbent by using either of the two is dissolved and the same adsorbability as an adsorbent made of the non-caking coal can be secured. At the same time the strength can be increased remarkably and the temp. elevating rate at the carbonizing time is also increased greatly, so the manufacturing efficiency of the adsorbent is improved largely.
