LENS POLISHING MACHINE

PURPOSE:To place a polishing plate always acting on a lens surface at a uniform pressure so as to enable a lens of high accuracy to be polished, by constituting a device so that plishing of a convex and concave lens and polishing in a wide applicable range of a radius of curvature can be attained by a single set of polishing machine. CONSTITUTION:A mounting plate 4 gluing a lens L to be attached is mounted to the bottom end of a tommy-like crank 7 in the end of a supporting arm 6 slidably fitted to a holder 5. Next, a swivel member 25 is movably fitted to the holder 5, accordingly a rack 18 of the holder 5 is tuned around a pinion 16 shuttle turning the holder 5, and the plate 4 performs shuttle turning motion by drawing a circular arc on the focal position of the concave lens to be polished serving as an axis further on a supporting shaft 14 having a radius of curvature serving as a supporting point, through the supporting arm 6 mounted to the end of the holder 5, thus the lens L forced to be brought in contact on a lens polishing unit 2 can be polished to a prescribed curvature. In such way, the plate, always acting on a lens surface at a uniform pressure, enables high accurate polishing to be performed.
