Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To remove effectively granular carbon with small water consumption without consuming of the granular activated carbon by equalizing the superficial velocity for passing water in a washing tank to that of an absorbing device, repeating alternately a stage for passing circulatively water and a stage for passing water once-through and providing a time for intermitting the water passage between the respective stages. CONSTITUTION:The superficial velocity for passing water in a washing tank is equalized to the superficial velocity for passing water in an absorbing device as a means for suppressing the consumption of activated carbon particles to be washed in a method for rinsing said particles by an upward fluidization type. A stage for passing circulatively the water into the washing tank to release the pulverized carbon from the granular activated carbon and a stage for discharging the released pulverized carbon by once-through passage of water for a relatively short time are repeated alternately as a means for decreasing the water consumption. A time for intermitting the water passage is further provided between the respective stages as a means for improving the effect of releasing the pulverized carbon. Then the consumption of the granular activated carbon is virtually obviated and the pulverized carbon sticking or mixing on or with the same is rinsed away.
