ELECTRIC SWITCHING UNIT

An electric switching unit, particularly for motor vehicles, is proposed which is used for controlling and/or regulating, for example, ignition systems, fuel injection, anti-lock braking systems, and transmission controls. The electric switching unit has a moisture- proof housing (1); the housing part (2) thereof holding an electrical circuit (4; 5) is sealed by a moisture-proof, flexible membrane (6) while a housing part (10) formed between the membrane (6) and the cover (9) of the switching unit is ventilated. The protection of the circuit (4; 5) against moisture is ensured by the membrane (6), while the cover (9) ensures mechanical protection of the membrane (6). In addition, the membrane facilitates pressure equalisation in the event of temperature changes and/or changes in the external pressure, by matching the volume in the housing. By these means, the reliable operation of the switching unit is facilitated in the case of rugged operation in motor vehicles as well as in the case of installation in the engine bay.
