ANALYZING METHOD OF RADIOACTIVE IODINE

PURPOSE:To analyze quickly radioactive iodine by utilizing an isotope exchange reaction in separating and adsorbing only the radioactive iodine on iodine type anion paper. CONSTITUTION:Two sheets of anion paper 5 converted to an iodine type are set on a filter holder 2 and two sheets of cation paper 6 are set thereon; further a 0.45mu millibore filter 7 is set thereon, by which the suction filtration of a sample is accomplished. When the sample passes the inside of the paper 5, the radioactive iodine in the sample water induces the isotope exchange reaction R-I+ *I R-*I+I (wherein R-I is an iodine type resin and *I is radioactive iodine) with the iodine adsorbed on the paper 5 and is separated and adsorbed on the paper 5. The measurement of the concn. of the radioactive iodine is therefore made possible by measuring the paper 5 after the filtration of the sample with a gamma ray measuring device.
