PURPOSE:A printer capable of simplifying a circuit construction, wherein discharge of energy by a self-excited energy limited discharging circuit provided in parallel with a hammer-driving magnet is made to be effective after a constant current supplying period is elapsed. CONSTITUTION:When supplying a driving current to the hammer-driving magnet 1, a signal B made to be logic ''1'' for a period of time Ti corresponding to the type area of a type font is supplied. A signal A made to be logic ''0'' for the entire period of printing is supplied, and control by a constant current controlling part 3 is made to be effective through an AND logic part 5. Accordingly, circuit construction can be largely simplified while adopting a system in which a sufficiently large driving current is supplied in a starting period of driving.
