PREPARATION OF FLUOROALKYLNITRILE

PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound useful as an industrial raw material, economically in high yield, by the ammonolysis of a kind of chlorofluoroalkane with ammonia. CONSTITUTION:A fluoroalkylnitrile of formula RfCN is prepared by reacting the chlorofluoroalkane of formula RfCCl3 (Rf is lower fluoroalkyl). The reaction is preferably carried out at 600-800 deg.C at a molar ratio (chlorofluoroalkane: ammonia) of 1:(1-2). The chlorofluoroalkane of formula RfCCl3 used as a raw material is, e.g. CF3CCl3, C2H5CCl3, etc. For example, CF3CCl3 can be prepared easily by isomerizing CF2ClCFCl2 with aluminum halide catalyst or by chlorinating CF3CH3 under light irradiation.
