ROTARY ELECTRIC MACHINE

PURPOSE:To eliminate the starter of an internal combustion engine by coupling an induction generator which has, in addition to a main winding an auxiliary winding of small capacity exclusive for starting, directly with the engine and operating the generator as a motor of small capacity under the generator starting condition. CONSTITUTION:A power source is connected to the auxiliary winding 3 of an induction generator 13 by closing a switch 12 under the starting condition. Thus, the generator 13 starts rotating with the power from a commercial power source 17 as a motor in the state that a prime mover 14 is coupled directly. When the prime mover is a Diesel engine, a fuel valve is opened in this state, thereby igniting fuel to start. When the prime mover is ignited to increase at a speed, the switch 12 is opened. When the speed is further accelerated so as to become the vicinity of the specified speed, a switch 11 is closed. In this manner, the generator starts operating, and the generated power is supplied to a load through a load switch 15.
