Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To enable a vehicle to go ahead and back at each stage of speed change by adding an ahead and backing changeover mechanism to an output shaft of a conventional transmission. CONSTITUTION:Ahead and backing gears 32, 33 are oppositely provided on the output shaft 4 of a transmission without need for making any change in the design of the conventional transmission 1. In an ahead and backing changeover device 2, when a shift lever 41 is rotated in the dotted arrow direction from the backing condition, a shift fork 35 is slided to the left side on a shifting shaft 38, while at the same time, a shifter 34 is slided to the left side on an output shaft 4. At this time, the projected part 37 of the shifter 34 is fitted to the recess 36 of the ahead gear 32, shifting the propeller shaft 30 to the ahead rotation.
