HYPOTENSOR

PURPOSE:A hypotensor that contains an alkylenedioxybenzene or its acid adduct as an active ingredient, thus showing rapid and durative effect with weak acute toxicity and high safety. CONSTITUTION:The objective hypotensor contains, as an active ingredient, a compound of formula I [n is 1-6; Z is -(CH2)m-(m is 1-3), formula II (R is H, 1-3C alkyl; R is 1-5C alkyl); Y is -CH(OH)-, -C(O)-, formula III ( is H, 1-5C alkyl, acyl); R is pyridyl, phenyl which may be substituted with halogen or 1-5C alkyl] such as 5-[2-(4-phenyl-1-piperazinyl)-1-hydroxyethyl]-1,3-benzodioxol. It can be given orally or parenterally and its dose usually is 1- 30mg/kg/day. For example, the compound where Y is -C(O)- is obtained by reaction of an alpha-halogenoalkanoyl-alkylenedioxybenzene of formula IV with a piperazine of formula V.
