CYLINDER LINER

PURPOSE:To both decrease a consumption amount of lubricating oil and reduce a noise arising from the interference by a piston further prevent scuffing before its generation, by providing a pressure reduced space constituting a heat pipe in a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A penetrating hole 2 is formed while a cylindrical cylinder liner 3 is mounted in a cylinder block 1, and one more cylindrical cylinder member 4 is mounted to the peripheral side. A wick material 9 consisting of, for instance, steel wool is mounted to the internal surface of an enclosed space 8 formed between the cylinder liner 3 and the cylinder member 4. While the space 8 is formed by both reducing pressure and sealing a working medium, for instance, water in its inside. Further a water jacket 11 is formd in the peripheral side of the cylinder member 4, allowing cooling water to recirculate. A heat pipe constituted by the cylinder liner 3 and the cylinder member 4 performs a transfer of heat in the radial direction and the height direction of the cylinder liner 3. The damping action of the pressure reduced space 8 reduces a noise.
