Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To provide a buffer material for a vortex type gasket with excellent sealing property, workability and heat resistance by mixing inorganic powder having a predetermined value of Mohrs' hardness and fibrous substance in a specified rate and permitting the mixture to include binder and other auxiliary materials. CONSTITUTION:A vortex type gasket is constituted from a thin metal strip hoop 1 having M-or V-shaped section and a buffer material 2 overlapped coiled in the form of vortex. For the buffer material 2 used for such a gasket are compounded 100pts.wt. of mixture of 60-99pts.wt. of inorganic powder having Mohr's hardness of 5 or less abd 40-1pts.wt. of fibrous substance with 5-30pts.wt. of binder while, if necessary, auxiliary material such as water and/ or oil repelling agent is included for use. For said inorganic powder are used talc, calcium carbonate, clay, etc. and for fibrous substance are used pulp, rayon fiber, etc. consist of plant fibers.
