Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a surface treated steel plate for seam welding with improved weldability, corrosion resistance, rust resistance and suitability to coating by forming an inner layer of Ni-Sn alloy plating having a specified composition and an outer passive layer of Cr hydrate on the surface of a steel plate. CONSTITUTION:An inner layer of Ni-Sn alloy plating having a composition contg. Ni and Sn in 0.5-0.8 weight ratio of Sn/(Sn+Ni) is formed on the surface of a steel plate for a can, etc. in 0.01-0.2mum thickness. On the inner layer an outer passive layer of 0.1-20mg/m Cr hydrate is formed by electrolytic chromate treatment or other method. The steel plate for seam welding treated by this method has superior weldability, corrosion resistance, high suitability to coating, superior primary adhesive strength to a film formed by coating and superior secondary adhesive strength after retort treatment.
